What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful form of energy healing that originated in Japan. It works by channeling universal life force energy to promote balance, relaxation, and healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Reiki is non-invasive and can be performed through light touch or even at a distance, making it accessible to anyone in need of healing and rejuvenation.
The History of Reiki
Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s in Japan. Usui developed the system of Reiki after a spiritual experience during a 21-day meditation and fasting retreat on Mount Kurama. He discovered that by tapping into universal energy, he could facilitate healing in himself and others.
Usui passed down his teachings to students, and Reiki was later brought to the West by Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman who learned Reiki in Japan and introduced it to the United States in the 1930s. Since then, Reiki has spread worldwide and continues to be practiced and taught in various forms, helping people reconnect with their inner healing abilities.
